It's a crying shame how they butchered that beautiful book in that movie. Don't get me wrong, the movie is still great, but the way they transformed the book into a screenplay is just atrocious. It absolutely turns the character of the people involved upside down.

I see this as a commentary on deity worship like Jesus and Allah. I know the supplantation of such religions into societal culture was more systematic, taking years (even centuries), but if you condensed it into a week, it would look like this... _"I was away for a week, and, upon my return, everyone is now going on about this 'God' bloke."_

Okay, I think I’ve worked it out. These guys are from the planet that was trying to forge an alliance with Earth, which is the endeavour Ambassador Jeff was talking about. Earth, of course, being run by a gently tipsy leader who was part of the Inebriati. This momentary blip regarding the existence of Vectron could not have been more poorly timed. After drinking copious quantities of Chablis, they decided to speak to the Earth Leader who, at that time, had foolishly finished his second drink. The origin of the call was to order some more cases of the delicious French white, but instead they were met with a strangely hostile leader telling them to get lost or it’d be war. Hence the Event. Or I might be overthinking it. I could be distracted by my lost plectrum…

The thing about this scene is that it does a really good job of portraying the craziness of war. At the end of the day Odd Ball and the rest of them are trained professionals that have fought their way across Europe. They are efficient and effective at taking an objective, and moving forward. It’s a job, and they just get on with it.

But for trivia worthy of Vectron you'd have to say this is from the full orchestral suite recorded by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, not the original theme which sounds a bit fake and ass by comparison. Best of all? I've recorded music with that very same orchestra and had a plectrum with me as it happened. For Plectrum! I mean, for Vectron! It's on my channel, by Vectron's calloused fingers!

Great movie Donald Sutherland superb as odd ball great acting. It's a good scene especially when you see tank cannon panning round for targets , great watch even today it does look quite realistic, if you have the gore it would be outstanding but still great movie for year and still own is today 😮
